Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist

Job Description:
This is a full time lab assistant position with rotating duties in Phlebotomy, Central Accessioning, Histology, Cytology and Clinical Lab. This position description includes only essential functions of the position and the incumbent may be required to follow other job related instruction and to perform other job-related duties. This position provides opportunity for increased education and position advancement.

Job Responsibilities:
• Performs blood draws including venipunctures and lancet skin punctures using proper techniques utilizing safety equipment
• Performs EKG tracings
• Performs CLIA waived point of care testing as required including any associated quality control
• Requisition completion and patient demographic data entry
• Obtains proper billing and coding information
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all phases of laboratory work and results

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma and/or equivalent, plus
• Phlebotomy training and/or experience

Full-time Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Description:

Performs complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, and immunology, using established protocols and procedures. Monitors, screens and troubleshoots devices, tests and procedures, recognizing anomalies, and making corrections to ensure quality.  Demonstrates proficiency in routine and special blood collections.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and/or an Associate’s Medical Laboratory Technician

Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT or MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
