Direct Access (Self-Referral) Lab Testing
A full range of medical testing services is now available to allow the individual to participate in his/her own health care. As patients assume more responsibility and interest in one's health, access to certain segments of healthcare, convenience, confidentiality and self-service have become important. NMAL offers a limited number of laboratory tests without a physician's order, assuring quality results with quick turnaround time, competitive pricing and confidentiality.
Fully certified by the Federal Government Laboratory Certification Program (CLIA), this is the same testing provided to physicians. The following tests can be performed without a physician order:
- Random Blood glucose
- HIV I and II screening
- RPR
- Lipid Panel
- Total Cholesterol
- PSA
- Pregnancy test
- Rubella Ab
- CBC or H/H
- Mono spot
- Strep A rapid test
- Urinalysis
- PTT and PT
- Iron, Ferritin
- TIBC
- TSH
Self-referral tests are offered on cash basis only and cannot be billed to insurance. Regular fees are reduced 10% for self-referral testing. Service availability is limited to normal laboratory hours. All clients must sign a release form before testing can be performed. Test results will not be conveyed by phone. The results will be given directly to the client in person or mailed if indicated. All mailed reports will indicate "confidential" on the envelope.
